Dear Wynd community,
We’re happy to report a major milestone - the first batch of over 1,400 Wynd units in white are already out of the factory and we are starting to ship! We expect the earliest Indiegogo backers to start getting tracking numbers in the next week or two, and we will be fulfilling orders as fast as we can on a rolling basis.

A fully packaged Wynd unit. We kept the packaging minimalist and recyclable.

What to expect in the next several weeks—white and black units
This past week we mostly focused on making the Wynd purifiers and trackers in white. The reason for manufacturing in batches by color is the white plastic parts came first from our plastics injection company.
What this sequencing means is that those who ordered only Wynd white units will start receiving sooner. We know there are many who ordered black units (or both black and white) as well, and we’ve already started making black units this week. We expect the first Wynd units in black to be ready for shipping within the next two weeks.

Work has already started on the black matte units
Once we ship to you we will send you an email with a tracking number. If you have any questions about shipping, please email us at [email protected].
iOS and Android Apps

The version 1.0 of the iOS and Android Wynd apps will be released to three app stores this week - iOS App Store, Google Play, and Baidu. It will pair with the Wynd hardware, as well as offer additional functionality – such as providing local air quality. We are also already working on future updates for both the software and firmware.
A quick shout out to Wynd’s sister app, Air Bubbles (iOS and Android), which shows local air quality from over 8,000 public air quality stations globally.

While we've reached an important milestone we know we still have more work to do to fulfill our pledges to you. As always, we will continue to keep all of you updated and if you have any questions please email us at [email protected].
We wanted to thank everyone for supporting us through the highs and lows. Your pre-orders, encouragement, and feedback helped us immensely and had a major, positive influence on what we are delivering.
Best,
Wynd team

Dear Wynd community,
We wanted to provide a quick update on our progress in mass production. We are still on track to start shipping at the end of the month. In the past week we completed most of the manufacturing for over 2,500 sensors (electronics, mechanicals, assembly and test). We're beginning production on the purifiers while continuing to make more sensors. Next week we're finishing a significant batch of fully completed units, and we'll be sending them to our logistics providers to start shipping to all of you.
As with previous updates, we've also provided below some detailed updates on manufacturing with pictures from production for those of you who are interested:

A complete unit with app (iOS and Android will be available). The goal of next week is to make a significant batch of complete units to be available to start shipping the following week.
The process for manufacturing the trackers was similar to what will also transpire with the purifier. It consisted of electronic PC board and Surface Mount Technology (adding components onto those boards), flashing firmware, mechanical assembly, and lots of testing.

Finished trackers that have already been tested and calibrated. They are each waiting for a Wynd purifier to pair with before final packaging.
Last week we finalized the packaging for mass production, and this week we’ll be putting the first units into their boxes, Packaging manufacturing is really fast--it's already almost complete after a few days.

Inspection of the packaging template. This artwork paper is glued onto fluted cardboard. We tried to keep the artwork design (and the packaging in general) simple.
We also wanted to provide a video demo of the whole unit working together with the app. Go here to see the video: https://youtu.be/dt1rk1u5h1s
We will keep you updated on our progress next week and look forward to starting to ship to all of you at the end of the month. If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected].
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for your support. It's been a long multi-year journey to get to where we are and we couldn't have made it to this point with you.
Best,
the Wynd team

Dear Wynd community,
It’s April—and as planned, we've begun mass production! Most of the Wynd team is now stationed at the factory for the next several weeks to make sure that over 5,000 Wynd units can be manufactured at high quality and shipped to you folks around the world. We know it’s been a long journey since we first launched the Wynd campaign in the summer of last year, and we’ve been working very hard to get the product right. We hope all of you will like the result. :)
We'll be spending the next 5 to 7 days finishing the SMT (adding electrical components to circuit boards) process, and after that, we'll be assembling and testing units for the next week. Finished units that pass our quality checks will be packaged and sent to our logistics partners to ship. We are targeted to start shipping units by the last week of April.
Here are some pictures from this week of our mass production:

Shipping details and other items
We should have finalized your add-ons and charged your credit cards in the past two weeks. Sorry if you received unexpected credit card charges for this. These add-on items were ordered through your BackerKit surveys, but we didn't charge for those items at the time because we wanted to give folks the flexibility to change their order. Once the add-ons got locked down two weeks ago, we charged credit cards via BackerKit—hence the emails from BackerKit confirming the charges. Sorry to everyone who received unexpected emails about these add-on charges.
If you need to input or update your shipping address, go to your personal BackerKit link that we emailed you by Sunday, April 9th. If you lost that link (or don't think you received it), go to BackerKit's Wynd page (or email us at [email protected] if that doesn't work). When we ship, you'll receive shipping notices with tracking numbers so you'll know when your products will arrive.
If you have any other issues (e.g., failed payments, special requests, etc.) please also email us at [email protected].

Thanks again for all of your support of Wynd and our team. We can't wait to get your Wynd units to you soon!
With love,
Wynd team

Dear Wynd community,
We want to provide an update on our progress. After two rounds of EVT (Evaluation Verification Testing), two rounds of DVT (Design Verification Testing), one round just last week of PVT (Production Verification testing), and hundreds of manufactured units later—we are gearing up for mass manufacturing and shipping in April!
Manufacturing progress
We wrapped up a final pre-production run of over 100 units last week, and we’re glad to report that all mechanical and electrical engineering is completed. Furthermore, we’ve developed a production version of the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for the processes needed to ramp up a team of production workers and engineers to make and test the 5,000 units in mass manufacturing.

Shipping info
Our mass manufacturing of 5,000 units will commence at the end of March and run through two to three weeks. We expect to ship the first units around the middle of April and ship the entire set to backers over the following weeks. In preparation for shipping to almost 5,000 pre-order backers around the world, we’ve enlisted the help of third-party logistics providers in both Hong Kong and the U.S. The Hong Kong partner will help us ship to all countries outside of the U.S., and the U.S. partner will ship domestically. Approximately half of all the units will be air-freighted via Expeditors (a global freight forwarding company) from Hong Kong to the U.S. for distribution.
There are several key things to note about shipping:
- Everyone who preordered on Indiegogo should have received their BackerKit survey (the one that asked about which device color you want). You can fill out your survey, update shipping addresses, and pre-order additional products on BackerKit here.
- We will be locking down additional add-on orders by March 22. So if you want to pre-order anything else (at current Indiegogo prices) please do so soon.
- We’ll also need everyone’s final shipping addresses by March 31. If you can’t finalize it by then, please let us know directly at [email protected].
Prices for pre-orders are going up for new backers
Just FYI: since we’re shipping next month, we’re raising prices on new pre-orders. Prices for the standard Wynd device will increase from $154 to $169 on March 22. The new price will still be a discount to the final retail price of $199, so this is everyone's chance to save $45 off Wynd’s retail price.

Thanks for the love and support!

Manufacturing update #3
Dear Wynd community,
We wanted to provide an update on our progress on manufacturing. Since our last update we have finished two more pre-mass manufacturing builds, and in the most recent trial run manufactured 100 purifiers and 140 trackers.
The high level summary is that things are moving along well and the timeline is unchanged to ship in April. We are moving fast but also performing lots of testing to ensure that Wynd is a high quality product when we ship to you.

A small batch of Wynds fully assembled and ready for inspection and testing.
As with every manufacturing updates, we wanted to also provide a bit more detail on the key areas needed to build Wynd.
Mechanical engineering is complete. Matte surface finishing has been added onto the tooling used to injection mold plastics. Everything fits together well and is quite sturdy.

The top of Wynd. The entire Wynd units matte, but the logo actually has a glossy finish.

Fully assembled purifier and tracker next to each other. You can see both of them are on and the lights are showing the airflow and air quality levels, respectively.
Our electrical engineering is also complete, and firmware and software development is wrapping up. We've also been continuing to run additional tests - from reliability testing to user testing. All that will make a positive impact in refining the product before mass production.
Waze of air quality
We conducted an experiment at CES in Las Vegas where 10 users with beta Wynd trackers collected air quality from around the city. Vegas has only 8 air quality stations but they dispersed and none show indoor air quality. Users were given sensors and early versions of our app and walked around, and auto transmitted air quality data to their phones which then sent the data to our cloud. In just 2 days, they generated 12,000 air quality data-points, detailing air quality all over the city! This experiment is just the beginning - with everyone’s help we can help whole communities better understand their environment and make healthier choices.

Close-up view of the air quality generated by our test users in Vegas. You’ll see big differences between the outside air quality and the air quality inside say the casino.
In summary
Thanks again for your support. Designing and manufacturing Wynd has not been without its challenges, but we’re making good progress and we think the wait will be worth it. Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback.
Best,
Wynd Team
